Grand Transit Autonomous

Grand Transit Auto(nomous) is a computational urban design project that explores how autonomous vehicles (AVs) may reshape street infrastructure, land use, and public space. We center the research around 3 questions:

How can AVs "play nice" with other forms of transportation — bikes, pedestrians, and transit?
How will autonomous mobility support efforts to reclaim the public realm?
How will AVs affect urban development and land use?

Using Cambridge as a testbed, the project combines interactive urban modeling with rule-based transformations to simulate AV-driven urban change. Parametric scripts generate new spatial typologies, subsequently translated into speculative urban scenarios using generative AI.
